02 / Capabilities

What is inside.

  • Pen and Bézier editing

    Pen, Curvature and Anchor Point tools draw the path, and Direct Selection moves real anchors and handles. The Pencil redraws part of a selected path, and Simplify trims excess points with a slider.

  • Exact shape booleans

    Pathfinder operations and Shape Builder unite, subtract and divide shapes on the true curves. Overlapping artwork merges cleanly without stray slivers.

  • Live appearance

    The Appearance panel stacks fills, strokes and effects such as outer glow on one object, each one editable later. Gradients, gradient mesh, transparency and the Swatches panel handle colour.

  • Blends, repeats, distortions

    Live blends follow a spine you can reshape, and radial, grid and mirror repeats update as you edit the source. Envelope Distort bends artwork to a shape, and Intertwine weaves overlapping objects.

  • Type in and on paths

    Point, area and path type with character and paragraph styles, and text that threads between frames. Hebrew and Arabic lay out right to left.

  • Image Trace

    A scanned sketch or a low-resolution logo becomes editable paths. Presets give a quick start and the adjustments set detail and colour count.

  • Booleans that hold up

    Shape operations work on the true curves, and unlimited undo lets you try an idea and step back.

  • Effects stay editable

    Appearance stacks, live blends and repeats keep updating as you change the source artwork.

  • Wide file reach

    Opens SVG, PDF, EPS, legacy and PDF-compatible .ai, DXF and EMF files, so older client artwork is usable again.

03 / Workflows

In practice.

  1. Turn a sketch into a logo

    Place the scanned sketch and run Image Trace for a first set of paths. Redraw the key curves with the Pen and Curvature tools, merge the parts with Shape Builder, then export SVG, PDF and PNG versions in one pass from Export for Screens.

  2. Set a poster for print

    Create the artboard at the trim size, build the palette from CMYK swatches and set the headline as area type. Export a PDF/X file for the printer and use Package to collect the fonts and linked images.

  3. Produce an icon set

    Draw each icon on its own artboard with snapping to the pixel grid. Asset Export writes every icon at the scales and formats the developers asked for, in the background while you keep working.

Complex .ai files can open with a changed layer structure, .afdesign files open read-only, PSD files arrive as one merged image, and .docx text is placed as area type.

Can Santre Vector open .ai files?
It opens PDF-compatible .ai files and older version 7 .ai files with their layers, groups and type. Complex files can arrive with a changed layer structure, so check the layers before you edit.
Which formats can Santre Vector export?
SVG, PDF (including PDF/X), EPS, PNG, JPEG, WebP, TIFF and PSD. Export for Screens and Asset Export write several sizes and formats in one pass.
Can Santre Vector trace a scanned drawing?
Yes. Image Trace turns a scan or a bitmap logo into editable paths, with presets and adjustments for detail and colour.
