Network & IT infrastructure

Networks and servers built to stay up and stay separate.

Firewalls, Wi-Fi, switching, VLANs, SD-WAN, VPN, cabling, servers, virtualization, Active Directory and DNS. Santre designs the foundation every other system runs on and keeps it documented and current.

Overview

Network & IT Infrastructure

Santre's network and infrastructure service designs, installs and manages business networks and server environments in Canada: firewalls, wireless, switching and VLAN segmentation, SD-WAN and SASE for multi-site organizations, secure remote access, structured cabling, servers, virtualization, Active Directory and DNS. It is for organizations whose network has grown without a design, that are opening or connecting locations, or that need to segment payment, guest, operational and office traffic.

Who it is for

  • Multi-location businesses connecting sites
  • Offices with Wi-Fi dead zones or unreliable connections
  • Organizations that must separate payment, guest or plant-floor networks
  • Companies replacing end-of-life firewalls and servers

What’s included

Every layer from the cable to the directory.

Firewalls and secure access

Perimeter protection and remote access that do not depend on one person remembering the rules.

  • Managed next-generation firewalls
  • Site-to-site and remote-access VPN
  • Zero Trust network access
  • SASE for distributed teams

LAN, Wi-Fi and segmentation

Fast wired and wireless networks, split so a compromised guest laptop cannot reach your servers.

  • Business Wi-Fi design and surveys
  • Managed switching
  • VLAN segmentation for guest, VoIP, POS and OT
  • Structured cabling and rack builds
How it works

Segmentation follows the traffic that needs to flow, not a template. Payment terminals, phones, cameras, guest Wi-Fi and staff devices sit on separate VLANs with firewall rules between them, which narrows the scope of audits such as PCI DSS and limits how far an attacker can move.

Multi-site connectivity

Connect locations with failover so one carrier outage does not stop a branch.

  • SD-WAN with dual-carrier failover
  • Branch network standards
  • LTE and 5G backup links
  • Network monitoring and alerting

Servers and directory

Keep the systems that still belong on-site healthy, or plan their move to the cloud.

  • Server deployment and lifecycle
  • Virtualization with Hyper-V or VMware
  • Active Directory and DNS administration
  • Infrastructure modernization planning

When to consider it

Signs it is time to act

  • Wi-Fi drops in parts of the building or the warehouse
  • Guests, staff, phones and payment terminals share one flat network
  • Your firewall or servers are past the manufacturer's support date
  • A new location needs to be online by a fixed date
  • No one has a current network diagram

How Santre delivers it

A clear process from first review to ongoing care

  1. Survey

Map the current network, cabling, wireless coverage and traffic, and record what exists.

  2. Design

Define segmentation, addressing, redundancy and the hardware bill of materials.

  3. Build

Stage and configure equipment, then cut over during an agreed window.

  4. Manage

Monitor uptime, apply firmware updates and keep diagrams and documentation current.

Scope

Technologies and boundaries

Platforms commonly in scope

  • Next-generation firewalls
  • Enterprise Wi-Fi platforms
  • Managed switches
  • SD-WAN and SASE
  • Hyper-V and VMware
  • Windows Server and Active Directory

Where this service ends

Managed IT handles day-to-day monitoring once the network is in place; this service owns network and server design, builds, upgrades and segmentation. Purchasing the hardware can run through Hardware Procurement.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Network & Infrastructure

Segmentation keeps devices that do not need to talk to each other apart. Guest Wi-Fi, payment terminals, cameras and staff computers on separate VLANs limit how far an infection spreads and reduce what falls in scope for compliance reviews.

SD-WAN manages several internet connections at each site as one network, steering traffic over the best link and failing over automatically. It is most useful when you have multiple locations or cannot tolerate an outage from a single carrier.

Yes. Santre can survey the space, specify cabling and equipment, coordinate the internet circuit and have the network ready before staff arrive.
