Santre Effects

Titles and effects that move.

Build compositions from layers, animate them with keyframes and expressions, and light them in 3D. Santre Effects renders the result to video and image sequences, or sends it to the web as Lottie.

02 / Capabilities

What is inside.

  • Layered compositions

Solids, shapes, text, footage, nested compositions, nulls and adjustment layers stack in the Timeline. Parenting, track mattes, blend modes and motion blur tie them together.

  • Keyframes and Graph Editor

Set linear, Bézier, hold and roving keyframes, apply Easy Ease, and shape timing on the value and speed graphs. Time remapping, time stretch and freeze frames change pace without re-animating.

  • Shape layers and masks

Trim paths, repeaters, round corners, zig zag, wiggle and merge paths build animated graphics from simple shapes. Pen-drawn masks carry feather, expansion and modes.

  • Text animators

Point and paragraph text uses your installed fonts, set from the Character and Paragraph panels. Animators with range selectors move, fade or scale text one letter, word or line at a time.

  • Expressions and puppet pins

JavaScript expressions such as wiggle and loopOut link properties, written in an inline editor or wired with the pick-whip. Puppet pins bend a drawing, and pin motion can be recorded live.

  • 3D cameras and lights

Turn layers 3D and frame them with one- or two-node cameras with depth of field. Spot, point, parallel and ambient lights cast soft shadows, and orbit, pan and dolly tools move the view.

  • Lottie in both directions

Open and export Lottie files from the same composition, with a clear list of anything left out.

  • Transparency in every delivery

ProRes 4444, VP9 or AV1 WebM, PNG and 32-bit EXR sequences all keep the alpha channel.

  • The full motion toolkit

Expressions, puppet pins, text animators and a Graph Editor work together in one timeline.

03 / Workflows

In practice.

  1. Animate a lower third

Draw the bar as a shape layer with trim paths, add the name with a text animator, and ease both in on the Graph Editor. Queue a ProRes 4444 render with alpha so the editor can lay it over any shot.

  2. Ship an animation for an app

Import an existing Lottie file or build the animation from shape and text layers with eased keyframes. Export Lottie JSON or .lottie, and read the report of anything the format could not carry.

  3. Light a product reveal in 3D

Turn the product layers 3D, add a two-node camera with depth of field and a spot light with soft shadows. Animate the camera move, then render H.264 for review and a PNG sequence for the final edit from the Render Queue.

Made for

  • Motion designers

Make animated titles, lower thirds and explainer graphics with shape layers, text animators and the Graph Editor.

  • Web and app teams

Export interface animations as Lottie straight from the composition.

  • Compositors

Key, matte and layer footage, and stage 3D card scenes with lights and shadows.

  • Video teams

Deliver graphics with transparency as ProRes 4444, WebM with alpha or EXR sequences.

04 / Files and workspace

Opens and saves.

Opens
.mp4.mov.mkv.webm.png.jpg.json.lottie
Saves
.mp4.mov.webm.png.jpg.tif.exr.gif.wav.aiff.json.lottie

Image sequences import as footage; .aep project files do not open, and Lottie export lists any feature it leaves out.

At the desk.

  • A familiar panel set

Project, Composition, Timeline, Effect Controls, Effects & Presets and Render Queue panels dock where motion designers expect them.

  • Timeline shortcuts

Twirl down properties, jump straight to position, scale or rotation with one key, and rename layers inline.

  • Drag to place

Drop footage, compositions or effects onto the viewer or the timeline at the time you point to.

  • Audio in sync

Previews play sound in sync, with meters and waveforms in the timeline.

  • Render Queue

Render settings and output modules, saved templates, overrides and a log for every job.

  • Readable project files

Projects save as versioned text that shows clean differences in version control.

05 / Questions

Good to know.

Can Santre Effects export Lottie animations?
Yes. It exports Lottie JSON and .lottie with precompositions, shape, text and image layers, eased keyframes, masks and track mattes, and lists any feature it could not include. It opens Lottie files too.
Can Santre Effects render video with a transparent background?
Yes. ProRes 4444 MOV, WebM in VP9 or AV1, and PNG or 32-bit EXR sequences all keep the alpha channel.
Does Santre Effects open .aep project files?
Not today. Opening .aep projects is on the roadmap. Footage, image sequences and Lottie files open now.
